You’ve probably seen Quick Response (QR) Codes in a number of places by now. These are essentially squared bar codes that store information in a similar way to the price tags in supermarkets. Making the codes square allows for more information to be stored, but it also provides a pattern that is easily recognised by specially designed software when your smartphone camera “scans” the code.
To use QR Codes in the classroom you will need your students to download a QR scanner app. There are lots available on the Apple and Android markets, so just get them to download a free one and they usually work fine. To create your own QR codes we found qrsuff.com to be one of the best websites for that.
There’s been much talk and many Blog posts on how these QR Codes could be used in the classroom, so we have summarised some ideas and added a few of our own in the mind map below. If you want to download the full iMindMap version head to Biggerplate on this link.
